Welcome to the Assault home page. If this is your first visit, then please check out the
Information about
Assault (for Gamers) page to find out just what the Assault expansion is. If you know what you want and why you want it, then feel free
to proceed directly to the
Downloads page.
One of the great things about Assault is, once you have the maps, you can play them with any Yuri's Revenge mod that supports them.
Check out the
Supporting Mods section of the navigation menu, to see
what mods are available that support Assault.
I have updated the Mod Developer's Pack and put it up for
download. This small informational package is for modders who wish to add support for Assault to their project.
I have noticed that there have been significantly more downloads of the first mappack than the second. This disparity was always true of the original versions also. I think that visitors are getting the first pack and neglecting to get the second? Please remember to get both packs. There's no reason to settle for 25 Assault maps when you can have 50...
After several revisions to the site layout (mostly for efficiency and portability... changes weren't noticeable appearance-wise), I think I'm about done. So, I have replaced the placeholder pages on the site with "real" pages. Both the
gamer and
modder info pages offer a lot more detail than the old site ever did.

New versions of the 2 Assault packs have been released. I advise everyone who already has the original versions to
update with these new packs.
The re-release was prompted by a recently-discovered issue, where many of the maps would introduce a bug which would cause Prism Tower networks of any size to do absolute damage. I considered this a serious bug, and by itself it was enough to justify the update. However, while I was at it, I also improved and refined the Assault trigger code, and at the same time added new features that modders can take advantage of. A complete change log follows.
These changes do not break current compatibility with any supporting mod. If you could play a mod with the old Assault maps, then you can continue to play that mod with the new maps too.
Changelog:
- Bugfix for some maps which allowed networked Prism Towers to do absolute damage.
- Flags at unused start points are no longer destroyed automatically.
- Flags are assigned to players right away, rather than a few seconds after the game starts.
- A radar event is generated on all player's radar screens at the location where a flag is destroyed.
- Added failsafe code to kill infantry which are in the process of mutating when their owner's flag is destroyed.
- The EVA announcement "Critical structure lost" will no longer be played when a flag is destroyed.
- Option added for modders to play their own sound effect whenever a flag is destroyed.
- Options added for modders to play their own custom EVA announcement when the flags are assigned, and another custom EVA announcement whenever a flag is destroyed.

But it's more than just darkened C-GEN images. It's a replacement of the old single-page Assault site, which was way too busy with text for anyone to read comfortably. This way I now have a place to post news (though that won't happen often). There's work to be done here and on other pages, but when finished, the site will better serve the two classes of visitors that this site receives:
gamers and
modders. There will be more detail for both groups, offered in a form that's easier to read, with the information on separate pages. And of course, there will also be a proper
downloads page.
Right now those new pages are just placeholders, although they do have the information that was always here. Also note the subdomain has changed. The old one will redirect here though, so there is no danger of anyone getting lost.
By the way, some of the new images you see in this site's layout were originally made by Sypher_5, which I sat on for a year. Then the other day I picked them up, and dusted them off, and mixed them up with the old site graphics (which were also made by Sypher, like, a long time ago). Finally I butchered them thoroughly to create the form you see them in now. So, if anything looks good, credit Sypher, and for things that look bad, blame me.
